DID YOU KNOW...
...that abuse is not always physical but verbal, emotional, spiritual, financial, sexual, and psychological?
...that abuse normally starts slowly with verbal, emotional, spiritual, financial, sexual, or psychological before it gets physical?
...that abusers are not likely to stop being abusive? In fact, they are likely to temporarily change their behavior enough for you to believe that they are a "changed person" only to revert back to their abusive ways.
...that survivors on average takes at least seven times to leave?
... about creating a safety plan?
SAFETY PLANS
Those who are enduring abuse should always and prayerfully consider developing a safety plan that is just right for them. Safety plans should be carefully thought out especially when children are involved. When making a safety plan, consider the following questions:
How far can I go to be safe from the abuser?
Does the abuser have a firearm?
Does the abuser have access to my/our children?
Would I need to change jobs?
Is there a state funded place that I can go to for refuge until I can find another home?
Additionally, contact your local law enforcement in your area to discuss ways to safely navigate your circumstance. And most importantly, don't do this without prayer!
Let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, have mercy on the soul that reads this prayer and needs a way out of a dangerous situation. Download a safe plan of action to this person's spirit. Give this soul the courage and success, even when fear attempts to be an obstacle, to get away and stay away from the abuser. Protect this soul every step of the way in the Name of Jesus Christ of Narazeth, we pray, Amen.
